Trust
Pay once, or every month. Either way, it keeps working.
In 2026 a popular notch app's licence server went offline and paying customers were locked out. Notchbird is built so that can't happen to you.
Your licence works without us
- Notchbird checks your licence about once a day. If it can't reach the licence server, it keeps working for 14 days from the last successful check.
- Server errors, rate limits and unreadable responses never count against you. Only a clear "expired" or "disabled" answer does.
- The licence check runs in the background and never blocks the app.
The shutdown pledge
If Notchbird ever stops being developed or sold, we will publish a final version that runs without any licence check, so everyone who paid keeps a working copy. This promise is also written into the terms of service.
Your data stays on your Mac
- History, notes drafts, clipboard history and focus history live in
~/Library/Application Support/Notchbirdwith owner-only permissions. - Agent sessions are read over your own SSH connection. From Claude Code transcripts Notchbird reads the session title, turn boundaries, tool names and a one-line preview of the latest reply. It never reports your prompts or tool inputs.
- Nothing is installed on the machines it watches.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The privacy policy lists every outside service.
Published performance budgets
Every build must pass these budgets before it ships. Figures are main-thread measurements on an M-series Mac.
| Measure | Budget | Measured |
|---|---|---|
| CPU at rest, ring animating | 0.5% | 0.02–0.05% |
| Memory after visiting every section | 120 MB | 50–64 MB |
| Switching sections, p95 | 20 ms | 11.5–16 ms |
| First render of a section | 60 ms | 9–25 ms |
